LSCO Foundation Postpones April 18 Scholarship Fundraiser in response to COVID-19

In response to Governor Abbot’s State of Disaster Declaration resulting from COVID-19, the Lamar State College-Orange Foundation has announced that the April 18 Triple Crown Ball scholarship fundraiser will be postponed until the public health emergency is resolved.

Judge Courtney Arkeen, LSCO Foundation Chairman, said that the decision to postpone the event was reached out of concern for the health and safety of the Southeast Texas Community.

“The health of our community, donors and LSCO students is our top priority. The foundation’s board will continue to monitor the CDC and DHS recommendations before setting a new date for our annual scholarship fundraiser,” Arkeen said.

Arkeen went on to say that while there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Orange County, residents should remain vigilant in taking precautions against the virus.

“Southeast Texas is an incredibly resilient and adaptable community. By cooperating with recommended public health guidelines, washing our hands and avoiding unnecessary contact, we can pull through this challenging time stronger than ever,” she said.
